In the heart of West Africa lies Lagos, a city that never sleeps, fueled by ambition, resilience, and rhythm. To conquer the day in the Gidi heat, you need more than a drink, you need a life force.

Inspired by the legendary energy it takes to cross the Third Mainland Bridge at dawn; this blend is our tribute to the unstoppable pulse of Nigeria.

At the center of this cup is the Nigerian Kola Nut (Obi), traditionally presented in ceremonies as a symbol of hospitality, vitality, and respect. For centuries, kola was chewed across West Africa to sustain stamina and sharpen focus. It later became the original inspiration behind early cola beverages. Today, Nigeria remains the world’s largest producer and exporter of kola nut, supplying the majority of global demand.

We pair this ancient energy source with rich Nigerian cacao nibs, long celebrated across West Africa for their deep flavor and mood-lifting properties. Together, “Cacao Kola” creates a powerful, grounding foundation.

To complete the blend, toasted mate and black tea provide a steady lift, while warm cinnamon and safflower round out the cup with subtle spice and balance.

This is your ultimate Life force brew, crafted for those who move with purpose.

The Taste

A bold, percussive symphony of flavor.

Toasted, earthy mate and black tea create a sturdy base. The Cacao Kola duo delivers velvety chocolate depth with a slightly nutty finish. A spark of cinnamon lingers at the end, warming the palate and leaving you energized, focused, and steady — without the harsh crash.

About Kola Nut (Obi): Africa’s Original Energy Botanical

Long before modern energy drinks and coffee culture, kola nut , known traditionally as Obi was one of West Africa’s most valued natural stimulants.

Indigenous to tropical West Africa, kola nut has been cultivated and shared for centuries across communities in Nigeria, where it remains deeply woven into cultural life. It is traditionally presented to guests as a symbol of hospitality, respect, and unity, and often used during ceremonies, gatherings, and important social occasions.

Nigeria is widely recognized as the world’s largest producer and exporter of kola nut, supplying the majority of global demand from its forest belt regions.

Traditional Uses

Historically, kola nut was:

• Chewed to fight fatigue and increase alertness during long days of labor or travel
• Used to support digestion after meals
• Shared to promote mental clarity and stamina
• Prepared in herbal infusions for vitality and endurance
• Incorporated into traditional wellness practices for respiratory and digestive support (traditional use; not medical claim)

In many West African communities, kola nut also served as a natural appetite suppressant and was used to help people stay focused during fasting or extended work periods.

Kola Nut & Early Beverages

Kola nut is the original inspiration behind early “cola” drinks.

In the late 1800s, extracts from kola nut were combined with carbonated water and sugar to create some of the first cola beverages, valued for their stimulating effects. Over time, synthetic flavoring replaced real kola in most commercial sodas, but the name “cola” remains rooted in this African botanical.

Before industrial processing, kola-based drinks were often prepared as tonic-style beverages and herbal infusions meant to provide natural energy and mental clarity.

Natural Energy Compounds

Kola nut contains:

• Naturally occurring caffeine
• Theobromine (also found in cacao)
• Polyphenols and antioxidant compounds

Together, these contribute to kola’s uplifting properties,  offering stimulation that feels more grounding and sustained compared to coffee alone.

When paired with cacao, mate, and black tea, as in Lagos Life Force , these botanicals work synergistically to support focus, mood, and steady energy without sharp spikes.

Why Asami Uses Kola Nut

At Asami Naturals, we honor Africa’s original wellness traditions.

We source Nigerian kola nut intentionally,  celebrating its cultural legacy while bringing its natural vitality into a modern tea ritual. Every cup connects you to generations of knowledge, craftsmanship, and plant wisdom.

This is not just energy.
This is heritage in motion.

Kola vs Coffee: What’s the Difference?

Both kola nut and coffee provide natural caffeine, but they affect the body differently.

Coffee delivers caffeine rapidly, often creating a quick spike in alertness followed by a noticeable crash.

Kola nut, traditionally used across Nigeria, contains caffeine plus theobromine and polyphenols. This combination tends to release energy more gradually, supporting sustained focus and stamina rather than sharp peaks.

Kola has historically been used to combat fatigue, support mental clarity, and promote endurance during long days of work or travel. Some traditional practitioners also used kola for digestion and respiratory support (traditional use; not medical claim).

When paired with cacao, mate, and black tea as in Lagos Life Force,  these botanicals work together to provide smoother, longer-lasting energy compared to coffee alone.

In short:
Coffee = fast stimulation
Kola + cacao + mate + tea = layered, steady vitality
