PURPLE TEA

This is a completely new category of tea. Purple tea is unlike any other tea in every aspect from its leaf structure and appearance, to the manufacturing process and to its distinctive health attribute. Purple signals the presence of anthocyanins in the tea leaves, a type of antioxidant praised for its health benefits. Anthocyanins are a type of flavonoid that gives a purple hue to blueberries, purple cabbage, red grapes, hibiscus, and acai berries. The coloring protects leaves from UV-B radiation and elevates leaf temperature during cold snaps. Tests show that anthocyanins are highly soluble and yield about twice the antioxidant benefit of vitamin C.
Purple Tea is a varietal of green and compares in taste to green tea. The leaf looks the same as green tea but is purple in color so, the new varietal are purple instead of green. Both the leaves and the brewed tea are purple. Purple tea is only grown commercially in Kenya. It is low in caffeine, less than green, but slightly more than while tea. Our purple tea from Kenya is unique.
